For capital markets, the most useful data as a gauge of overall importance are from the World

Federation of Exchanges monthly statistical reports. The figures for different exchanges for five

countries are given in Chart 5.3.

In the context of sukuk, which are often classed with debt securities, it is also useful to look at

the data on these. Chart 5.4 shows the figures for outstanding debt securities issued in the

jurisdictions along with the international component.
