Indonesia ranks 21 among 41 countries according to the Infrastructure Investment Index
developed by ARCADIS (2016) that measures the attractiveness of infrastructure investments.
Chart 4.1.4 shows the private sector investments in different infrastructure sectors for the
period 2005-2010 and 2011-2016. The telecommunications and energy sectors appear to have
attracted the most investments followed by the transport sector. While the
telecommunications sector attracted significant investments worth USD 14.277 billion during
the 2005-2010 period, the energy sector had the highest investments (USD 14.148 billion)
from the private sector during the 2011-2016 period.
