As shown in the table above, Cameroon’s agricultural statistical system compiles and

disseminates a wide variety of statistics related to the traditional domains, such as production,

prices, inputs and trade.

Resources of the Agricultural System

Human Resources:

Apart from the INS, which has sufficiently trained and sufficient staff,

services in charge of the production of food and agricultural statistics in line ministries suffer

staff shortages both in quantity and quality. Recruitment freeze in the public service during the

recession remains the main cause of the decline of the framework in the rural sector and the

quality of data produced. In addition, during the crisis Cameroon experienced an important

phenomenon of exodus of executives (including compilers). Many of the governmental

agencies involved in the production of agricultural statistics in Cameroon have few

statisticians and people involved in the production of statistics, generally lack technical skills.

The report on metadata also points out a high mobility of trained personnel.

Financial Resources:

The production of agriculture and food statistics in Cameroon remains a

very expensive operation. Overall financing needs expressed in the framework of the NSDS for
