Improving Agricultural Statistics in the COMCEC Region

13

International Labour Organization (ILO) is mandated to compile and disseminate statistics

related to labor. The agriculture related statistics it compiles and disseminates include labor

force, economically active population, wages, unemployment, and CPI.

The World Bank and IMF also disseminate agriculture related statistics and indicators such as

purchasing power parity (PPP), poverty, development aid, infrastructure gross national

product (GNP), CPI and finance, but also ad-hoc data compiled through their country missions

and funded research (such as household surveys). The World Bank also regularly disseminates

well-known and highly used development indicators which contain mostly second-hand

agricultural data compiled by specialized agencies.

To this list one can also add African Development Bank (AfDB), Asian Development Bank

(ADB), Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), European Bank for Reconstruction and

Development (EBRD), Islamic Development Bank (IDB), United States Department of

Agriculture (USDA) and Department for International Development (DFID) of the United

Kingdom.
