Chart 2.9 shows the status of the telecommunications sector in OIC member countries relative
to other regions. Although mobile phone subscriptions and fixed telephone lines in OIC
countries (114.8 and 8.7 respectively) are better than those in South Asia (92.5 and 3.5
respectively) and Sub-Saharan Africa (92 and 3.5 respectively), they are lower than all other
regions of the world.
