Hotel quality standards typically evaluate factors across a number of common parameters.

The number of factors varies and can reach up to several hundred. Each standard places a

different weight on each factor. The following figure

illustrates the variation of weights in

categories across a set of global classification standards.

In some instances, standards may set a minimum to be achieved for a number of factors to

obtain a certain rating. There are common measured criteria across most hotel standards. The

table below highlights some of the most common elements measured for 4 and 5-star hotel

standards within several key categories
