Food
Adulteration
Any form of tampering that renders food unsafe and can cause harm to
civilian and military populations, as well as substantial economic harm to
food producers.
Food Defense
An important function, whereby the food system is defended against the
risk of intentional adulteration.
FoodSecurity
A situation that existswhen all people, at alltimes, have physical, social and
economic access tosufficient, safe and nutritious food that meets their
dietary needs andfood preferences for an active and healthy life.
Food Systems
It include all participants and interconnected, value-adding activities
involved in producing, aggregating, processing, distributing,
consuming, and disposing of food products.

Resilience
The ability to prevent disasters and crises as well as to anticipate,
absorb, accommodate or recover from them in a timely, efficient and
sustainable manner. This includes protecting, restoring and improving
livelihoods systems in the face of threats that impact agriculture,
nutrition, food security and food safety.
Sustainable
Food System
A food system that delivers food security and nutrition for all in such a
way that the economic, social and environmental bases to generate food
security and nutrition for future generations are not compromised.
Zakat
Payment made annually under Islamic law on certain kinds of property
and used for charitable and religious purposes, one of the Five Pillars of
Islam.
