Table 39 presents the distribution of COMCEC Member Countries by different IASD categories
and COMCEC Regional groupings. Of the 9 countries in Category A, 4 are from the African
group, 2 from the Arab group and 3 from Asian group. There are 11 countries in Category B, of
which 3, 4 and 4 are from the African, Arab and Asian groups respectively. Category C has 17
countries, of which 6, 5, 6 are from the African, Arab and Asian groups respectively. Finally,
Category D has 20 countries, 4 of which are from African group, 11 from thhe Arab group and 5
from the Asian group.

African group’s country distribution within Categories A, B, C, D are 24, 18, 35, 24 percent
respectively. Arab group’s distribution to Categories A, B, C, D are 9, 18, 23, 50 percent
respectively. Finally, the Asian group’s country distribution to Categories A, B, C, D are 17, 22,
33 and 28 percent respectively. The African group has the highest ratio in Category A and the
lowest share in Category D. The Arab group, on the other hand, has the highest share in
Category D but the lowest in Category A.
