Turkey Case Assessment
Turkey seems to be a classic and successful example of agricultural FDI magnet within the
COMCEC, which entails both “ability” as well “suitability”. Other countries, such as Iran and
Mozambique, have better “ability” to attract agricultural FDI (i.e. due to more un-utilized arable
land) but fail the “suitability” (i.e. appropriate investment and business climate and are
associated with higher investment risks. Such constraints, that clearly hamper inward
