Annex 6 to OIC/COMCEC/36-20/REP
95
We need to develop the infrastructure to make gold trading possible among OIC
Exchanges.
This will pave the way for development of new products and services based on gold as
well as other areas of cooperation.
Honorable Ministers,
I would also like to briefly touch upon the activities carried out within the scope of the
COMCEC Working Groups.
As we all well aware, policies that are formulated without sufficient elaboration rarely
succeed.
In this respect, the working methodology of the COMCEC Working Groups aims to
reveal the current situation and best practices in each sectoral theme.
Then it offers pertinent policy recommendations. For that very reason, the policy
recommendations of our Working Groups provide us a unique opportunity to overcome
the challenges.
The COMCEC Project Funding mechanism proved to be a useful instrument for
implementing the policy recommendations.
We are glad to see the growing interest of the Member Countries in this important
mechanism.
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Before concluding, I should like to touch upon Islamophobia which has become the
most common manifestation of racism and xenophobia today.
In various parts of the world, Muslims are subjected to hate speech.
They are still being attacked, insulted, despised for their beliefs and even murdered
every day.
As the Islamic world, it is essential and incumbent on us that we continue to draw
attention to this crucial issue.
We must wake up to these dangerous rhetoric and actions.
We should send a clear message to the West regarding our red lines. We can then make
other countries realize the severity of the problem.
