Maldives, Kazakhstan and Qatar are the OIC countries with the highest mobile cellular
penetration rates.
OIC countries are generally in a less favourable position in terms of internet penetration
compared to fixed and mobile telephony. Average of fixed broadband penetrations among the
OIC countries is just 6.16 percent and this is much lower than world average, which is 14.81
percent. UAE, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan and Turkey are the leading OIC countries in terms of fixed
broadband subscriptions per 100 people.
Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain are the best performing OIC countries in terms of internet usage rates
with values above 95 percent. However, average of internet usage rates among OIC countries is
still lower than world average.
