Administrative Sources
The CBS is responsible for collecting, processing and disseminating economic statistics in
Sudan. It collects monthly prices of four main cereals (wheat, sorghum, millet and maize),
vegetables and fruits (dates, mangoes and citrus) in rural areas. It publishes monthly and
quarterly bulletins on these statistics. These newsletters can be found on the CBS website. The
Ministry of International Trade has also started to collect its own statistics through a chamber
room and using sources other than the CBS and MoAI.

vi. Dissemination of Agricultural Statistics
The dissemination of the agricultural statistics are in hardcopy and made available on the CBS
and MoAI websites.
111
CBS’s statistics are also widely used by Sudan’s Governmental organizations. The ASU/MoAI is
one of its main users, as is the Department of Agricultural Statistics which uses the macro and
price statistics from the CBS national accounts to prepare its own publications for internal use,
and for other interested public and private institutions. This two-way relation between the
agricultural statistics unit of MoAI and CBS can be developed into a formal agricultural
statistics supply chain.
