Intra OIC Tourism Market Overview
Although competition was relatively strong to attract Muslim tourists from the non-OIC
member states, intra OIC tourism demonstrated a sustained growth. Muslim intra-OIC tourist
arrivals will grow by 21.8 percent from 2014 to 2020, in comparison to Muslims arrivals from
non-OIC markets that will grow by 17.4 percent. This highlights that more Muslims residing in
OIC countries are traveling to other OIC countries.
Figure 16 shows a diagrammatic representation of the Muslim arrivals to both OIC and non
OIC member states. This illustrates that non-OIC Muslim market could be a target segment for
OIC countries to increase visitor arrivals.
