Retail Payment Systems
In the OIC Member Countries

Summary
The Moroccan economy is in a period of considerable transformation and payment systems,
under the supervision of the central bank, are slowly being disseminated. The official position
is that this growth continues in its current exponential rate until it reaches around two thirds
of the population with bank cards. Given the extensive mobile phone network, it is likely that
the private sector participants as well as the state owned enterprises will extend retail
payment services rapidly.
